State & District Minimum Wage Increases
Nevada, Oregon, and the District of Columbia, plus many local jurisdictions will increase their minimum wage rates on July 1, 2024.
California Healthcare Worker Minimum Wage
On May 31, Senate Bill 828 delayed the implementation of California’s health care worker minimum wage law by one month.
Therefore, on July 1, 2024, the minimum wage for covered healthcare workers increases to:
- Covered health care facility: $23.00 per hour
- Hospitals: $18.00 per hour
- Clinics: $21.00 per hour
- Other covered health care facilities: $21.00 per hour
- Licensed skilled nursing facility: $21.00 per hour
Local Minimum Wage Increases
Numerous cities and counties are also increasing their minimum wage effective July 1, 2024. Some local jurisdictions adjust their minimum wages annually for inflation each July, but they haven’t announced their 2024 rates yet.

- Montgomery County, MD (11 to 50 EEs) increased to $15.50
- Minneapolis, MN (100 or fewer EEs) increased to $15.57
- St. Paul, MN (101 to 10,000 EEs) increased to $15.57
- St. Paul, MN (Six to 100 EEs) increased to $14.00
- St. Paul, MN (Five or fewer EEs) increased to $12.25
- Renton, WA (501 or more EEs worldwide) increased to $20.29
- Renton, WA (15 to 500 EEs worldwide or fewer than 15 EEs with more than $2 million in gross revenue) increased to $18.29
- Tukwila, WA (15 to 500 EEs worldwide or fewer than 15 EEs with more than $2 million in gross revenue) increased to $19.29
